Farhad

Farhad Mehrad (1944–2002) was an Iranian singer, songwriter, and pianist known for his deep, soulful voice and socially conscious music. A pioneer of Persian rock, he gained fame in the 1970s with iconic songs like Jomeh, Koodakaneh, and Marde Tanha, which carried themes of love, solitude, and social awareness. His music was banned after the 1979 Iranian Revolution, limiting his career for years, but he remained an enduring symbol of artistic integrity and resistance. With his poetic lyrics and melancholic melodies, Farhad remains one of Iran’s most influential and legendary musicians.
